Stephanie Wilkerson, LISW
Stephanie obtained her graduate degree in Social Work from The Ohio State University and has been a practicing therapist since 2014. For the past four years, she has worked with adolescents struggling with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and PTSD. She works with both adolescents and adults who have decided it’s no longer an option to continue being stuck in a never-ending cycle of anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, and life stress.
Stephanie specializes in Cognitive Processing Therapy which utilizes a top-down approach for trauma treatment. This therapy has proven to provide a significant decrease in PTSD symptoms within 12 therapy sessions; it challenges ones thoughts associated with why a trauma occurred rather than on the trauma itself. Due to this, clients do not have to give detailed descriptions of their past trauma which can be very difficult.
Stephanie is a therapist who believes thoughts are the driving force for our emotions and behaviors. If a person can learn to experience an emotion in a non-judgmental way, he or she would be free to translate his/her experiences into positive thoughts of curiosity. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy allows this process to begin and provides long-term relief from uncomfortable emotions dictating life decisions.
