Learning Problems and Language Processing Difficulties

The Center has the capacity to both provide assessment of learning and language processing through assessment of mental abilities, language usage, and learned academic skills. Measures of intelligence, memory, receptive language, expressive language, reading, math, and written expression. In addition, not only are more traditional academic skills measured, but other factors known often as fluency are assessed, including silent reading fluency, oral reading fluency, and rapid naming (using the RAN/RAS). The assessments can assist in the identification of learning problems and learning disorders.

Tests available include: Woodcock-Johnson Tests of Achievement and Tests of Cognitive Abilities, Wechsler tests of intelligence, Gray Oral Reading Tests, Gray Silent Reading Test, RAN/RAS, Test of Memory and Learning, Test of Adolescent Language, Comprehensive Test of Phonologic Processing.

The Center also has learning specialists, many of whom are trained in education or behavioral instruction, to provide learning consultations to children and their parents, direct instruction for academic skills development, and behavioral interventions to improve fluency.
