Adults with ADHD and Inattentiveness have a history of struggling with academic and/or work productivity, but the brighter the adult, the more
they compensate for the ADHD with strategies, but at some point these compensatory strategies give way, and problems with organization, short-term memory, and productivity begin to appear.
Assessment of Adult ADHD includes:
a standardized inventory that includes a history of symptoms from childhood, adolescents, and early adulthood
rating scales completed by the individual and others who know him/her now, and those who knew him as a child or adolescents
assessment of cognitive capacities that are often compromised by ADHD including tests of concentration, persistence on tasks, and control over impulses.
