Court-related Services

Expert Services to Courts and Officers of the Court
The Center provides several licensed professionals who have training and experience in both Civil and Criminal proceedings. Expert testimony as well as consultations on trial issues are available. Areas that are often requested relate to school law, domestic relations issues including custody evaluations, competency to testify, reliability of child abuse investigations, juvenile offender mitigation, and retardation related to the death-penalty. Our staff include psychologists with experience in prisons, youth offender facilities, domestic relations courts, and juvenile/probate courts.

Expert Services are offered only through contracts with either attorneys or the courts. In the case of administrative hearings, the agency or entity conducing the hearing can also be the client. Expert services in psycho-legal contexts are always viewed as a service to the court, in order to provide the trier-of-fact with an increased ability to make sound judicial or quasi-judicial decisions. No private litigants can retain the services of any professionals at the Center for court-related work.

Directed Family Therapy
In addition to expert services, the Center provides a court-related therapeutic intervention for highly hostile and frequently conflicted divorced or divorcing families. Treatment includes assessment of the causes of the on-going conflicts, psychoeducational review of the harmful risks to children of such conflicts, development of skills in communication/problem solving/self-direction, and redefinition of one?s role as a divorced parent.
