NEW GAHANNA OFFICE LOCATION
How to make your initial appointment with CCBT:
New patients must CALL prior to being scheduled so that intake information
can be taken, insurance contacted when appropriate, and suggestions
for staff be provided. Please do not use email to make an initial
appointment as those emails will not be answered. New patients must
call 614.459.4490.
CCBT is pleased to announce that eight of its Independent
Practicing Affiliates will be attending, in October 2009, the 2-day basic
training from the Gottman Institute for couples/marriage therapy. CCBT is
providing stipends for the tuition costs to build CCBT's capacity to provide
empirically supported couples/marriage therapy.
CBT and Behavior Couples Therapy Noted as
Empirically Supported
A newly published article in Newsweek magazine reviews the problems in
psychotherapy that result from a lack of scientific grounding in treatments.
It mentions specifically cognitive-behavioral therapy, cognitive therapy,
and behavior couples therapy as methods that have been shown to have an
effect on many patients. If you would like to read the article, here is the

About Us
The Center for Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy of
Greater Columbus, Inc. (CCBT) was established in 1995 by the efforts
Dr. Kevin Arnold, psychologist, and Mr. Barry Keith, LISW, as well as
several others. Dr. Arnold has served as its Director since then,
and Mr. Keith continues as a Independent Practicing Affiliate (IPAs)
at CCBT. CCBT is a multi-disciplinary behavioral health out-patient
practice that includes psychologists, clinical social workers,
professional clinical counselors, independent chemical dependency
counselors, and applied behavior analysis/behavioral intervention
professionals. In addition, educational consultations and speech/language
services can be accessed through CCBT. While offering training to
parents, professionals, and clinicians is a vital part of CCBT, CCBT's primary function is the delivery of behavioral health
services within a cognitive-behavioral (CBT) model. Dr. Arnold, who
is Board Certified in Cognitive and Behavioral Psychology, and the
clinical staff/IPAs strive to integrate any individual, couples, or
family therapy into a CBT treatment model. CCBT integrates
behavioral psychology methods such as those used by Skinner, Iwata,
or Wolpe, along with those from cognitive therapy from Beck, Ellis,
Mahoney, Michenbaum, Freeman, and Young.
Additionally, CCBT offers services, through county
boards of mental retardation and developmental disabilities, the
Autism Scholarship Program, and private payment arrangements, to
families and individuals with autism spectrum disorders, mental
retardation, or other developmental disabilities. Psychological and
psycho-educational evaluations are also available to determine the
diagnosis of various behavioral health problems including autism
spectrum disorder, ADHD, and learning disabilities. Court-related
assessments are also available at CCBT, including assessments
related to chemical and alcohol dependency that can assist a court
or administrative agency (e.g., the Supreme Court or other licensing
boards) in adjudicating cases.

Mission: To
improve the emotional and behavioral lives of children, adolescents
and adults; to improve the happiness and durability of marriages and
relationships; and to provide individuals with high quality mental
health testing and assessments that are evidence-based.
Vision:
Those with emotional and behavioral needs in Columbus will receive
high quality diagnostics, consultations, and therapeutic interventions
so that their lives are better by allowing CCBT to serve their needs.
